Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to let you know about a change to how we communicate information regarding after-school sanctions.

As an Academy we will no longer send individual text message reminders to parents and carers when an after-school sanction has been issued. Instead, sanction details will be available through the Outwood Portal, providing families with one central place to access key information about their child’s experience and progress at the Academy.

The Outwood Portal can be accessed at:

Parents and carers can log in using the email address provided to the Academy.

We appreciate that some families may have become accustomed to receiving text reminders, and we wanted to give you notice of this change. Moving to the Portal means parents and carers can access information at a time convenient to them, rather than relying on individual text notifications. It also provides a much fuller picture of how your child is doing at school.

We strongly encourage all parents and carers to use the Outwood Portal regularly. It is a fantastic tool which brings important information together in one place and enables families to see not only where a sanction may have been issued, but also the positive contributions, achievements and academic progress their child is making.

Importantly, this change does not mean that students will be left to remember sanctions without support. Students will continue to be reminded of their sanctions each morning during Personal Development and Guidance time, and our Learning Managers will also support students throughout the day to ensure they are aware of any sanction they are expected to attend.

This approach aligns our communication regarding sanctions with the established practice used by other academies across the Outwood Grange Family of Schools, while increasing the use of the Outwood Portal as the central source of information for families.
